Jon brings 20 years experience in furniture making to the table, having worked in various institutions and companies in the UK, Bolivia and Nicaragua. After learning his trade in a traditional craft school in England, he embarked on a successful solo career making studio furniture combined with several teaching roles at various colleges and universities in the UK. However, 30 long winters resulted in him trading his worldly possessions online in 2007 and spending the cash on a one-way ticket to Nicaragua. Having headed up the production for a large furniture manufacturer he began a quest to create something personal, and joined up with Maderas Collective to build beautiful furniture and make a real difference in the woodworking sector in Nicaragua.
Dave brings 5 years of on-the-ground experience of "getting it done" in Nicaragua and a decade working in finance and law in New York. Dave left his legal career in New York after a chance trip to Nicaragua. He saw the opportunities, loved the quality of life and committed to setting up shop in Nicaragua.
After founding and building Maderas Village, a boutique hotel on the beach in Nicaragua, Dave focused on building up the Maderas Collective Workshop in order to leverage the tropical hardwoods, skilled craftsmen, and existing relationships in the design world in New York. Many years later, he's a bit gray in the temples, but excited as ever about the work being done by the Collective.
